On running on clouds with new sponsorships and ISPO Gold Winner Award

On – the Swiss sports start-up and run shoe specialist – has won a prestigious Gold Award from the international sports goods convention, ISPO, for Best Performance Shoe. Meanwhile, following a global sponsorship deal recently signed with coaching and triathlon team powerhouse, teamTBB, On has also signed an endorsement agreement with XTERRA World Champion Lesley Paterson.

The uniqueness of the On Cloudracer impressed the ISPO Award jury. The 57-member jury from 14 countries and 3 continents certainly had its hands full trying to check the numerous applications from all over the world. The choice finally fell on the On Cloudracer.

The On Cloudracer was engineered in Switzerland by former Duathlon World Champion and six times Ironman Champion, Olivier Bernhard.

Lesley Paterson endorsement deal
The recently signed deal with Lesley Paterson, sees the two-time XTERRA World Champion wear On running shoes exclusively through to 2014.

“We welcome Lesley to the On team that includes an impressive line-up of world champions,” said Olivier Bernhard. “Like the dozens of champions and thousands of runners worldwide who have experienced the unique On running sensation, Lesley will find running in the On more fun.”

“As soon as I put these running shoes on I was blown away,” said Paterson. “They are responsive and a smooth ride. They transfer power nicely off the ground yet are very light. I’m excited to throw down some great run times with them on and off-road.”

On founder Olivier Bernhard has provided further details about the On Cloudracer shoe…

Q: What is special about the On Cloudracer?
Olivier Bernhard: As all other On models, the Cloudracer combines an outstanding performance with an extraordinary smooth running gait. As a competition shoe, the Cloudracer offers even more direct road contact. Thanks to our patented technology, even long races are possible without early fatigue.

Q: What triggered the idea to create the On Cloudracer?
OB: The athletes themselves. They were hooked by the On running sensation and didn’t want to do without it during competition. That’s why they asked for an actual racing shoe. At On we follow the credo: from athletes for athletes.

Q: Who wears the On Cloudracer?
OB: Top athletes wear the On Cloudracer during competition. Ironman triathlete, Caroline Steffen, became European and Vice World Champion wearing the Cloudracer. David Hauss finished fourth at the Olympic Games in London. And Ben Allen wears the Cloudracer on rough terrain and is today one of the best off-road triathletes. Many of the 100 pro athletes wearing the On run faster – that’s proof.

The young Swiss-based sports company’s aim is to reinvent the running shoe. In 2010 the company won ISPO’s Newcomer Award and won Gold in Men’s Running’s Shoe Innovation category in 2012. In the last three years, On has found its way into 700 sports goods stores in 18 countries.
