PowerBar 10K at the Triathlon Show on 3 March 2013

As part of the Triathlon Show 2013, race organiser All About Triathlons will host the PowerBar 10K, supported by official shoe sponsor Mizuno. Heralding the eleventh outing for the Triathlon Show, the PowerBar 10K will take runners around the historic grounds of Sandown Park racecourse on 3 March 2013.

The PowerBar 10K will take place on the third and final day of the popular Triathlon Show. The run comprises an undulating two lap, marshalled course around Sandown Park, one of the UK’s most revered horse racing venues. Starting and finishing at the main grandstand, it is a multi-terrain course taking runners through woodchip near the stables, through mud, over grass and on paths.

One of the more interesting 10K courses in the area, it does not disappoint, taking runners through the stables, around the Parade Green and across the race course itself. Due to the winding nature of the route, it allows all runners to see the lead group throughout the course.

Race entry is £15, which includes entry to the Triathlon Show exhibition; and all participants must register before the day. Online entry is now available. Timing chips and bib numbers will be issued on the day.

There is also a 5K option for those who fancy a fast race; and following a successful 2K family run at the Running Show 2012, the Triathlon Show will also host another 2K this year. The family run is for everyone, from children of all ages, to parents with buggies to grandparents. There’s face-painting for the children ahead of the run, lots of support along the way and a great atmosphere. Entry is free with the purchase of a show ticket (adults £9 in advance and U16’s go free).

As well as having the opportunity race at Sandown Park, visitors to the Triathlon Show 2013 will be able to gain lots of information from major triathlon brands. Whether the visitor is new to multisport racing or a veteran long-course triathlete, the Triathlon Show will provide information on everything from training plans to choosing the right kit, nutrition options, how to avoid injury and how to improve the swim stroke.

There is car and secure cycle parking at Sandown Park. Those arriving by train should go to Esher station where it is a ten minute walk to the venue.

David Townsend, founder of The Triathlon Show said “2012 was an extraordinary year for triathlon with the Brownlee brothers’ success, another British lady taking the Kona crown and Daniel Halksworth taking the UK Ironman title. Triathlon continues to grow exponentially and 2012 has only reinforced this development.

“The Triathlon Show provides visitors the chance to gain expert advice, brilliant deals from brands and to meet with fellow athletes. We look forward to welcoming everyone in 2013.”

2013 also sees a new Triathlon Club Village where local triathlon clubs can meet, socialise and showcase their offerings to potential new members.

The show opening times are as follows:

  • Friday 1 March: 12:30 – 19:30
  • Saturday 2 March: 09:30 – 17:00
  • Sunday 3 March: 09:30 – 17:00
