Velocomp LLC (iBike) has named SKOPRE Srl as its exclusive European importer & licensee of the iBike Newton power meter and cycling measurement line of products.
SKOPRE, headed up by Stefano Doldi specializes in innovative high performance products. SKOPRE is working closely with Velocomp to establish distribution in a number of European markets ‘to deliver the level of customer service, expertise, and personal attention that iBike is known for in the United States.’
Velocomp’s iBike power meter aims to deliver power measurement at a fraction of the cost. The company notes that ‘Power measurement is really about the measurement of force: Power = Force x Bike Speed.’
Cyclists apply force to bike pedals in order to overcome the forces resisting forward motion (hill climbs, wind resistance, rolling resistance, acceleration, etc.). Traditional power meters measure the forces applied by the cyclist. The iBike is claimed to be the only power meter that measures the opposing forces that resist the cyclist’s forward motion.
So, according to Velocomp, by ‘measuring the opposing forces the iBike gets the same answer as traditional power meters, but with less weight, cost, complexity, and more simplicity and flexibility.’

Velocomp and SKOPRE will be exhibiting the full range of iBike Newton power products as well as iBike’s line of iPhone based bike computers and the new iBike PowerStroke technology at Eurobike from 28-31 August, in Friedrichshafen, Germany.
