Sponsorship not going to waste – as Allied Waste Services is named HITS Triathlon Official Green Business Partner

HITS Inc announced its partnership with Allied Waste Services, one of the largest waste and recycling companies in the United States, for this past weekend’s HITS Triathlon in Lake Havasu City, Arizona. Allied Waste Services joined the event as the official green business partner ‘providing numerous receptacles for trash and recyclables for use by athletes and spectators alike.’

Voted as one of Active.com’s ‘Triathlons to do in 2013’ and nominated for a 2012 Reader’s Choice Award by Travlete.com, HITS Lake Havasu City in Arizona made its return to the 2013 HITS Triathlon Series schedule on 9-10 November 2013.

“By assisting the nearly 800 participating athletes and their spectators dispose of trash and recyclables in an environmentally friendly manner, Allied Waste has not only added value to the race experience but to the local community as a whole,” said HITS Race Director, Mark H Wilson.

With its 30,000 employees, operating as a division of Republic Services, Allied Waste is a leading provider of environmental services. Founded in 1998 and committed to the Lake Havasu community since 1990, Republic Services now has operations in 39 US states and Puerto Rico.

Republic/Allied attributes its strong growth to the strategic planning and infrastructure development of more than 800 local solid waste collection, transfer, landfill and recycling operations. The organisation delivers assurance to commercial, industrial, municipal and residential customers by delivering ‘prompt, affordable and reliable service.’

Allied Waste Services General Manager and Lake Havasu City resident, Brian Conway, is no stranger to the HITS Triathlon Series. Conway swam, biked and ran his way to the finish line at the inaugural HITS Lake Havasu City event and continued the tradition in this year’s Sprint distance.

“Allied Waste Services is proud to align with HITS Triathlon Series and we truly appreciate HITS making Lake Havasu one of their race destinations,” said Conway.

HITS Triathlon Series aims to produce events that deliver ‘a challenging multisport experience like no other’, featuring five distances geared to the needs, level of training, endurance capacity and personal goals of every athlete.

In addition to providing a product for the seasoned athlete with the Sprint, Olympic, Half and Full distance races, HITS has also developed the Open (entry level) format and introduced the sport of triathlon to those who may have never thought that a triathlon was possible for them.

HITS Triathlon Series is approaching the conclusion of its second year of races with the annual HITS Championship taking place on 7-8 December in Palm Springs, California.

HITS has recently announced its new umbrella company, HITS Endurance, which will organize all HITS Triathlon Series, as well as HITS Running Festivals. HITS Running Festivals will host its third event of the season on 14 December in Austin, Texas, at the famed Circuit of the Americas. Helping to bridge the multisport and running communities together, the forthcoming running event in Austin will also incorporate a duathlon.
