Billed as ‘Asia’s premier triathlon festival’, the 2014 Bintan Triathlon in Singapore will celebrate its 10th anniversary on 17-18 May. As the event celebrates its 10th outing, the organisers note that there will be a bigger budget in 2014. Participants and their friends and families are told to ‘expect fireworks, fun fringe activities and a big party!’
Staged on the beautiful coast of the South China Sea, the annual Bintan Triathlon has established itself as one of the most popular triathlon events in Southeast Asia with an audience of 1,500 participants, hundreds of spectators and ‘millions more through local, national and international media.’
With photo booths for fun pictures and event souvenirs to mark the anniversary, the 2014 Bintan Triathlon has races and activities for all… ‘parents and kids, fit and unfit, young and not-so-young’. A tropical paradise only 55 minutes by ferry from Singapore, Bintan Island provides a perfect backdrop for a triathlon experience combined with a holiday.
The organisers are also awarding free race weekends (ferry, accommodation, food, party and race entry) to two participants who have participated in the last 9 Bintan Triathlon events. For those who have participated in 4 or more events over the past 10 years, the organisers will give a free anniversary cycle top, free race entry and free race massages.

The Bintan Triathlon is organised by Metasport (previously known as Tribob after his founder Bob Bowness). The company was formed in 2000; and MetaSport has over the years built a reputation in coaching to individuals and groups of all levels, ‘from absolute beginners to high performance athletes competing at world championship events.’
In tandem, the company has established a reputation in event management. The New Moon Khcycle MetaSprint Series, MetaMan Bintan, the Tour de Bintan, Singapore Duathlon and the Bintan Triathlon are among the events that MetaSport organize.
Leveraging its dual expertise of coaching and event management, the company has more recently embarked successfully in the organization of corporate clinics and events ‘using sport to foster team bonding and employee wellness.’
