Dark Mark and Cobb Cycling add a new twist to media outreach

Saddles, accessories and apparel specialist Cobb Cycling has reached a multi-year endorsement deal with internet user Dark Mark. Dark Mark is an age group triathlete, prolific humorist and a member of Team TRS (The Real Starky). In addition to serving as a Cobb Cycling brand ambassador, Dark Mark will contribute to social media activities, as Cobb Cycling ‘looks to dominate global bicycle accessories markets’.

“We are thrilled to sign Dark Mark to an endorsement deal,” said Athlete Director Jeremy Brown. “Dark Mark has a promising triathlon and comedy career ahead of him. His spirited passion for sarcasm and strong desire to sit on comfortable things that help him ride fast make Dark Mark an ideal Cobb Cycling ambassador. We are pleased to welcome Dark Mark to the Cobb family.”

Dark Mark is ‘represented by irreverent triathlon pundit, occasional Slowtwitch contributor, and super-agent, The Real Starky’. As pointed out in a release from Cobb Cycling, ‘TRS operates the fastest growing and most trusted apparel brand in triathlon.’

With a laugh out loud take on life and all things endurance sport related, @TheRealStarky was born on 19 November 2013. At first, the parody account ‘just yelled at people and made fun of champion triathlete, Andrew Starykowicz.’ Since then, ‘as the author researched Andrew for comedic ammunition, he grew to appreciate his radical honesty, unorthodox style, big ego, and quirky sense of humor.’

Dark Mark, with his own unique voice, tweets in a similar irreverent vein. Recent tweets about marriage, being an Ironman athlete and the World Cup have added to his popularity and sphere of influence.

This has clearly attracted the likes of Cobb Cycling – and in the coming weeks and months, we may see more brands working ever more closely with ‘age groupers of influence’ in the endurance sport space.

For those athletes who are in Atlantic City this weekend for Challenge Atlantic City, Team TRS has a gathering at the Bar A Beach Bar this Friday 27 June between 16:00 and 18:00 local time. The event will have give-aways of some TRS tees and stickers and some Cobb Cycling gear.

Founded in 2009, Cobb Cycling offers a full line of bicycle seats for all riders, whether they are at professional or amateur levels. John Cobb’s innovative seat designs ‘provide increased comfort, impacting speed and performance.’ Cobb Cycling is a privately held company headquartered in Tyler, Texas.
