Easter treat awaits finishers at Decathlon Good Fri Tri

Oxfordshire’s very own triathlon will again take place on Good Friday (18 April 2014) at Radley College, close to the city of Oxford, UK. Organisers of The Decathlon Good Fri Tri are encouraging people to slide on their swimsuit, jump on their bikes and dust off their trainers for this sprint triathlon; and with multisport retailer Decathlon announced as this year’s title sponsor, the event aims to deliver a great day out for both participants and spectators.

Set in the beautiful grounds of Radley College, The Decathlon Good Fri Tri caters for everyone from newcomers to the sport as well as seasoned triathletes. Given its timing in the year, and with a family feel to the proceedings – Easter goodies are promised to all race finishers.

The sprint distance event starts with a 200m pool swim, ‘perfect for those attempting their first triathlon’. This is followed by an 11K loop cycle route, through some of Oxfordshire’s most scenic countryside and finishes with a flat, 3K cross country run. The finish line is positioned in the purpose built sports track at Radley College.

Event organiser, Try Tri Events has helped thousands of people complete their first triathlon and achieve new personal bests. The Good Fri Tri typically attracts 500 entrants and with Decathlon, the world’s largest sports retailer, now on board as headline sponsor, the event should be the biggest and best it has ever been.

Chris Rees at Try Tri Events said “We are very pleased to announce our new partnership with Decathlon. It seemed the perfect fit with matching missions to make sport accessible for all.”

With the brand new Oxford Decathlon store opening in May on Seacourt Tower Retail Park, Mike McHale, Store Manager, commented on the new partnership. “We are proud to partner the Good Fri Tri and look forward to meeting hundreds of sporting newcomers and experienced triathletes on race day,” he said.

“We want our brand to make a real contribution to the community, offering new opportunities for residents, students, families, schools and workers to get involved in sport.”

Entry fees start at £45.00.
