European sports nutrition trade association gains 40th member

The European Specialist Sports Nutrition Alliance (ESSNA) has announced that sports nutrition companies DCC Health & Beauty and Healthspark have joined its membership, bringing the trade association’s total number of members up to 40.

In the months since its announcement that it is to expand on its historic campaigning role to become a trade body for the EU sports nutrition sector, ESSNA has almost doubled its initial membership. DCC Health & Beauty, a manufacturer of premium brands in the global nutrition market, and Healthspark, a leading manufacturer and distributor of new and innovative sports nutrition products, become the latest companies to commit themselves to ESSNA’s core values.

These underline the importance of the highest safety standards and upholding EU regulations on the content and labelling of sports nutrition products. DCC Health & Beauty and Healthspark follow Vitamin Center and High5 in joining ESSNA in recent weeks.

ESSNA is positioned as the voice of the sports nutrition industry in dialogue with regulators, policy makers, the media and consumers. Its work focuses on campaigning against EU regulations that could adversely affect the sports nutrition sector, as well as monitoring and reporting irresponsible companies that flout EU law for commercial advantage and may put consumers at potential risk from dangerous products.

Dr Adam Carey, Chair of ESSNA, said “The rapid expansion of ESSNA’s membership over the last 12 months is a reflection of the commitment of the industry’s leading lights to ensuring consumer safety and their adherence with EU regulations. It gives us the impetus to address those who fail to meet or neglect these standards. I would like to welcome both DCC Health and Beauty and Healthspark to the ESSNA fold, which is truly representative of a European industry in excellent health.”

Rachel Hipkiss, Nutritional Sales Director at DCC Health & Beauty said “DCC Health & Beauty Solutions is delighted to have joined ESSNA this year. As our presence increases in the sector, we want to ensure that we are best placed to provide our customers with up to date advice and support and joining ESSNA is a big step towards this.”

Katherine Andreasen, Head of the Technical and Regulatory Department at Healthspark said “Healthspark has a strong industry reputation for being able to offer legally compliant formulations for sale within the EU market. We are thrilled to have been accepted as ESSNA members to support our continued NPD and innovation within the regulatory framework.”
