After a huge amount of feedback from past participants the decision has been taken to relax the fundraising commitment for the 2014 Jenson Button Trust Triathlon. The organisers are fully aware that the £500 fundraising target has been a little too much for some people.
This has now been relaxed and all the organisers ask is that participating athletes raise as much as possible, ‘from £5 to £500 any donation will be greatly appreciated and will help Cancer Research UKs life saving work.’
The event’s organising team has also announced a new entry format for all those who don’t feel they can complete the entire triathlon but would still like to take part. For the first time ever, the event has launched a relay format which means that three friends can share the disciplines of swim/bike/run and each pick a favourite.
Held on 12 July in the stunning grounds of Luton Hoo with a relaxed festival atmosphere, post-race BBQ and entertainment, the Jenson Button Triathlon is positioned as a great day out for family and friends alike.
Entry for a team of three is £66 per person and includes all standard event entry benefits including a t-shirt, swimming cap and goody bag. The race itself is also less than a super-sprint distance which means ‘it is perfect for beginners and as it’s a double triathlon, you get to have another go in the afternoon!’
The organisers would like to thank all those who have already hit the £500 donation mark. All the money raised will go towards helping Cancer Research UK beat all forms of cancer.
Now in its third year, the Jenson Button Trust Triathlon is a unique event. It combines tri racing with a relaxed festival atmosphere; it has a true family feel with a buzzing event village, post-race party with prizes presented by F1 driver Jenson Button, live music and a barbeque.
The 2014 event will give competitors the chance to race twice, with the preliminary heat consisting of a 300m lake swim, 9K bike ride and 2.5K run. The top performers will then go on to the final (750m swim, 15K bike ride and 2.5K run) with the runners up entering the ‘wooden spoon’ race.
