UK bike and motoring retailer Halfords has again been confirmed as the Official Mechanics Partner for the 2014 Sky Ride Big Bike events, which take place on traffic free streets in 14 towns and cities nationwide across the UK, starting in Plymouth on 25 May.
Over 100,000 cyclists of all ages and abilities are expected to attend the events, at the following locations:

- Southampton – 29 June
- Newcastle – 2 August
- Manchester – 3 August
- Sheffield – 10 August
- Hull – 17 August
- Leicester – 24 August
- Ipswich – 31 August
- Liverpool – 7 September
- York – 14 September
- Coventry – 21 September
- Bradford – 28 September
Halfords cycle mechanics are a key part of each event, servicing bikes and assisting with essential adjustments, cabling and inner tube replacements, free of charge.
The Halfords team of mechanics for the 2014 Sky Ride Big Bike events come from different Halfords stores across the UK and will showcase their servicing and support skills at over 30 cycling events this year.
Sky Rides are positioned as big, celebratory events which take over a town or city centre so thousands of cyclists can ride together on a traffic-free route. Forged out of the partnership between British Cycling and Sky, the organisers note, ‘It doesn’t matter how old you are, how old your bike is, or how fast you ride.’
