HITS Triathlon Series has announced today that it will bring its national US event series home to New York state for a weekend of multisport racing on 11-12 July 2015 in Kingston, New York. Since the launch of the Saugerties based series in 2011, Race Director and resident, Mark H Wilson, has been eager to showcase Ulster County as an ideal swim, bike and run destination.
“It’s been a long-time dream of mine to introduce our community to the positive impact a triathlon event has on the host city,” explained Wilson. “After partnering with the Kiwanis Kingston Classic earlier this year, we felt a remarkable amount of local support, and knew the timing was perfect.
“Ulster County is excited to welcome athletes to our beautiful landscapes and historic main streets,” said Ulster County Executive Mike Hein. “From the breath-taking views of the Ashokan Reservoir and the historic buildings of Kingston, New York State’s first capital, visitors will quickly realize that Ulster County is the perfect backdrop for a weekend-long family event.”
Hein added, “I want to thank Tom Struzzieri, CEO of HITS Endurance, for not only choosing to headquarter HITS Endurance here, but for also locating a world-class racing event in Ulster County.”
Located just 90 miles north of New York City, HITS Kingston will aim to offer regional and national triathletes alike a glimpse at what the majestic Hudson Valley has to offer. The race will feature a protected bay swim in the Hudson River, launching from the spacious Kingston Point Beach. A beautiful rolling bike course around the Ashokan Reservoir and a flat scenic run along the Historic Rondout will highlight many of the area’s most notable views.
“Not only does the Hudson Valley rival the most beautiful places on the planet, but also presents an extremely athlete-friendly environment,” Wilson continued. “Triathletes from Connecticut, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Vermont and beyond will flock to Kingston for a unique race experience in the foothills of the Catskills.”
The two-day festival style event will offer ‘a distance for everyone!’ including the family friendly Open, as well as a Sprint, Olympic, Half and the local region’s first 140.6 Full distance. For athletes going long, the Half and Full distance races will take place on Saturday 11 July 2015. The Sprint, Olympic and Open distance races will occur on Sunday 12 July.
Registration for HITS Kingston is now open via Active.com. As an incentive for early registration, all athletes who complete their registration by 11 April 2015 will receive over 30% off the regular registration fee. HITS Triathlon Series caps each of its distances at 500 athletes so early registration is encouraged.
Course maps are currently being finalized, but other race information, including a weekend schedule is now available at HitsTriathlonSeries.com.
HITS is working with local hotels to arrange for lodging partners and will have more information on community resources available in Kingston as soon as possible. In 2013, HITS unveiled its umbrella company, HITS Endurance, which now organizes all HITS Triathlon Series events, as well as HITS Running Festivals. HITS Inc is a special events management company primarily focused on producing endurance sports events and hunter/jumper horse shows. Based in upstate New York in the village of Saugerties, HITS is dedicated to creating ‘high-quality events in desirable destinations with unmatched, professional operations’.
