Entry into one of the most eagerly anticipated M-Dot races of 2015 – the inaugural IRONMAN 70.3 Dublin, to be held on Sunday 9 August – has now sold out.
Having opened online entries at 10:00 yesterday, 24 November, to over 11,000 pre-registered athletes, all 2,200 general entries were snapped up within just a few hours. Entries are now only available through charity partners and Nirvana Europe via the event website.
All places were available on a first come, first served basis, divided between Irish residents and international athletes with a view to bringing a cosmopolitan feel to the race come August. Renowned for its hospitality, Dublin promises to bring a unique experience for athletes and spectators alike.
As ever with IRONMAN events, charity fundraising is a major part of IM 70.3 Dublin and the organisers are delighted to have two official charity partners on board – Save The Children and The Rotary which can each provide access to places in return for a fundraising commitment from athletes.
Guaranteed entries are also available through Official Travel Partner Nirvana Europe, which will also take care of organising the event weekend.
Course details will be announced in due course, but the event will start with a 1.2 mile swim in Dun Laoghaire, a 56 mile bike course through Dublin City and west into the countryside surrounding the city. T2 will be located in Phoenix Park, which will also host the 13.1 mile run and the finish, under the iconic IRONMAN finish arch.
While the fastest athletes will complete the course in around 4 hours, the event does accommodate a wide range of ages and abilities, who have up to 8 ½ hours to complete the 70.3 miles.
