HITS Triathlon Series has partnered with Gear West Bike and Triathlon, naming the retailer the Official Bike Shop of the newest HITS Triathlon Series event – HITS Twin Cities – Waconia, Minnesota.
Gear West Bike and Triathlon has been serving the cycling community of the Midwest for over 20 years. Launched in 1993, Gear West offers ‘a unique local bike shop with something for every style customer’. From family hybrids to mountain bikes to triathlon bikes, the retailer focuses on the needs of all local and regional cyclists.
“Their shop has a national reputation for excellence and customer service that is second to none, not to mention our mantras of introducing the masses to cycling and triathlon align perfectly,” said HITS Triathlon Series Race Director Mark H Wilson. “I am thrilled to have Gear West as the Official Bike Shop for the debut of HITS Triathlon Series in the Midwest at HITS Twin Cities – Waconia, Minnesota.”
In 1995 Gear West Bike & Tri started to do whatever they could to grow the triathlon scene in Minnesota. There were roughly only a dozen triathlons and duathlons in 1995, five of which shut down before the 1996 season. Joining Gear West in an effort to revive the triathlon community of the Midwest, HITS Twin Cities will take place on 16-17 August on the shores of 3,200 acres of fresh water at Lake Waconia.
The bike course will offer long rolling hills and the run goes onto the Dakota Trail; both excellent routes for any distance.
HITS Twin Cities will boast ‘a distance for everyone!’, including an Open, Sprint, Olympic, Half and Full distance. “Introducing yet another 140.6 distance event to our schedule is exciting,” said Wilson. “In less than two years we have doubled the amount of Full distance options in the country and have given athletes the opportunity to fulfil their go-long aspirations, in a safe, customer driven atmosphere.”
