Following its sale to major food and nutrition firm Post Holdings, and the significant achievements of sponsored athlete Sebastian Kienle at Kona this year, the team at PowerBar Europe has produced a new look website for the sports nutrition brand.
Based around the Drupal web platform, the new website is designed with a focus on PowerBar’s sponsored teams and athletes. Globally, numerous athletes are sponsored by PowerBar each year – from professionals to young talent, as well as a focus on active sportswomen and countless more athletes reached directly at 200 supported sporting events.
Noting that PowerBar is ‘where athletes overcome their boundaries’, the new site references PowerBar’s sponsorship of key endurance sports events across Europe. The brand is a sponsor across triathlon, running and cycling events and is backing the Ironman European Tour, Tour de France, Berlin Marathon and BMC Racing Team to name but a few partnerships.
Among the top stars of the 90 pro athletes in PowerBar’s European Team Elite program are: triathletes Sebastian Kienle (Ironman World Champion 2014), Jodie Stimpson and Rachel Joyce; in cycling BMC Racing Team and Team Netapp Endura; in football FC Cologne and VFL Wolfsburg; in hockey, Düsseldorf EC; in athletics Betty Heidler and Meb Keflzeghi; in action sports JB Peytavit; and climbing Stefan Glowacz.
Another key aspect of the new website is the training & nutrition section. According to PowerBar, this represents the brand’s central core competence, its knowledge of sports nutrition, and is a starting point of brand communication and dialogue, which is expected to continue across social networks.
In tandem, PowerBar Europe has focused on an e-commerce platform for consumers. It points to the close-knit network of dealers and specialized online retailers that are listed in the website’s partner area.
