John Paul Mitchell Systems, the world’s largest privately owned professional salon hair care company, will extend its partnership with XTERRA – producers of the world’s premier off-road triathlon and trail running series – by becoming the title sponsor of the nationwide XTERRA US Trail Run Series.
The 2014-2015 Paul Mitchell XTERRA Trail Run Series will feature more than 80 runs in 20+ US states ranging from 5K to 50K.
“We have really enjoyed seeing the number of events and participants in XTERRA’s trail run series grow through the years and are happy to support its continued expansion and vision of perpetuating the healthy, active, outdoors lifestyle,” said Julie Solwold, Vice President of Global Sports and Events for John Paul Mitchell Systems.
“We have great synergy with the XTERRA team, participants, and community. It’s really a commitment to caring for people and the planet.”
Paul Mitchell is the longest-tenured sponsor in the history of XTERRA, with the relationship dating back 20 years. The company will also be a presenting sponsor of the 2015 XTERRA America Tour and the XTERRA Asia-Pacific Championship race in New South Wales, Australia.
“XTERRA is really based on relationships, with each other and our environment, and by far our relationship with the Paul Mitchell team has been the longest and strongest,” said XTERRA CEO Tom Kiely. “We are most appreciative to John Paul DeJoria, Julie Solwold and the entire Paul Mitchell family for helping us share the ‘Live More’ lifestyle far and wide.”
Runners in the 2014-2015 Paul Mitchell XTERRA Trail Run Series have more than 18 regional series to run in. Each regional series produces anywhere from three to seven races where runners accumulate points towards winning series championships.
Age-group results are tabulated after each race, and the cumulative results at the end of the season determine the final series points. Series champions are then awarded free entry into the XTERRA Trail Run National Championship – an off-road half-marathon held each September.
At the end of the year, runners from all over the world unite at Kualoa Ranch on the majestic island of Oahu for the XTERRA Trail Run World Championship in December.
