Spirit of running continues with issue two of Like the Wind

Like The Wind – the magazine of stories and visuals about running – is getting set to launch its second issue.

As the editorial team notes…

Thanks to the incredible response to the first edition of Like the Wind, we knew that there’d be another issue almost before the ink was dry on #1. We are really excited that LtW #2 will be available from 23 May… We are also now offering subscriptions for those who want to make a saving as well as the convenience and an exclusive gift.

Issue #2 of Like The Wind includes:

  • Dean Karnazes and an amazing, unexpected race
  • One man’s battle with a hill in his local park
  • The tale of battling frozen conditions for days at a time
  • A runner’s changing relationship with the canal towpath
  • A first hand photographic account of the Marathon des Sables

Plus the high quality print magazine includes photo essays from Brighton, Nepal and Madrid and many more tales of pavements and trails, of ups and downs. All are beautifully illustrated with original artwork.

Like The Wind is designed to be ‘inspirational, motivational and moving.’ The mag contains no training plans, no nutrition advice and no kit reviews… ‘just the spirit of running on every one of the pages!’

The editors have decided to increase the size of the magazine to 96 pages. Whilst the size of the magazine has increased, the number of adverts hasn’t: there aren’t any. The premium, book-style theme of the magazine is reflected in the higher newwstand price, with the price of issue two remaining the same at £9.

Like The Wind has decided that, from issue #2, it will be offering four-issue subscriptions; these will be £40 (including P&P) for the UK and £44 for the rest of the world, a saving of £1 per copy. This also entitles readers to an exclusive subscribers gift in the form of an A4 print.

Simon Freeman (Co-Founder of Like The Wind) said “The idea for Like The Wind came from a desire to be motivated by other runners’ stories. We were particularly inspired by magazines from other sports, especially cycling and mountaineering, where the emphasis was on the spirit of the sport rather than the technical elements. We take our hats off to The Ride Journal, Rouleur, Single Track and Alpinist magazines amongst others.”
