New mag Like The Wind aims to capture the spirit of running

Like The Wind is a new magazine of stories and visuals about running – designed to be ‘inspirational, motivational and moving.’ The mag contains no training plans, no nutrition advice and no kit reviews… ‘just the spirit of running on every one of the pages!’

According to a release from the team behind Like The Wind, the whole project is a not-for-profit one. There is no advertising in the first issue and any money left over from sales after the bills have been paid will be donated to a charity nominated by the mag’s contributors (who are all giving their time and effort for free).

So far Like The Wind has contributions from the likes of Matt Fitzgerald (Racing Weight, Iron Wars, etc), Mara Yamauchi, Will Cockerell (Runners World and The 50 Greatest Marathon Races of All Time), Dick Beardsley and many others (some are just runners who have a story to tell).

Simon Freeman (Co-Founder of Like The Wind) said “The idea for Like The Wind came from a desire to be motivated by other runners’ stories. We were particularly inspired by magazines from other sports, especially cycling and mountaineering, where the emphasis was on the spirit of the sport rather than the technical elements. We take our hats off to The Ride Journal, Rouleur, Single Track and Alpinist magazines amongst others.”
