Groupset and accessories specialist SRAM has signed on as the official pro neutral race support provider for US Ironman and Ironman World Championship events.
Specifically, SRAM will offer pre-race technical assistance to both pro and amateur athletes at select Ironman events, including a day’s rental of race-ready Zipp wheels. At the upcoming world championships in Kona, Hawaii, SRAM will be the official in-race pro neutral support partner.
SRAM technicians ‘equipped with the fastest wheels and surest hands on the planet will support competitors from the SRAM neutral service car (1), motorcycles (2) and scooters (2) that will continuously patrol the gruelling 112-mile bike leg.’
SRAM’s heritage of providing neutral support has been instrumental in the company’s 27-year history for both road and mountain bike racing. The goal of the partnership is to provide competitors the best opportunity to complete many of the most challenging and popular triathlon events across the US market.
“We wanted to work with SRAM, who does an amazing job of activating their partnerships, and who has a great history of support along with a true understanding of athletes’ needs,” said Andrew Messick, CEO at Ironman.
“There are few things more critical to an athlete than showing up at a major event with equipment as ready as they are to perform,” said Alex Wassmann, SRAM Road Sports Marketing Director. “This partnership will give Ironman competitors a professional and convenient service option at the races for their bike. It’s really about having one less thing for them to worry about ahead of their race.”
