Triathlon industry organization Triathlon Business International (TBI) has launched a blog entitled ‘TBIntelligencer’ that will explore current topics and raise discussion points within the multisport industry. The blog will be published on the TBI website, on its Facebook page and be provided to members through the regular TBI newsletter.
The goal of the blog is to open a dialogue and clarify issues/challenges for business entities in the association and the sport, including: retailers, manufacturers, race directors, governing bodies, athletes and others in the swim-bike-run industry.
The blog will be launched with an op/ed by Pacific Sports CEO/President and TBI President Jack Caress entitled ‘Entry Fees: The 3rd Rail of Triathlon for the RD’. His premise is that entry fees are almost always too low, and Caress provides a multi-point rationale to support his position.
Future blogs will be posted monthly and include topics such as:
- Pay for Professional Triathletes;
- Technology is Changing the Way Events are Selling and Managing Sponsorships;
- Swim Safety;
- Using Technology to Reduce Expenses and Increase Quality; and
- Big Data and Triathlon.
Blog authors are TBI members and the first several months of blogs include representatives from Coeur Sports; Help Get Sponsors; America Multi-Sport; TriRegistration.com/Multirace.com, Redshift Sports, Prevish Marketing and ACTIVE Network.
Each blog will be approximately 300 words and will discuss a triathlon current issue/conversation. Authors’ opinions will aim to raise questions, create conversation and provide differing opinions; but are not meant to be deliberately inflammatory/rant without a substantive basis in facts.
TBI also points out that the blog cannot be a business promo piece unless the business is a valid part of a solution/suggestion. Readers are encouraged to offer supportive or differing opinions through feedback[at]triathlonbusinessintl.com, which will be posted on the TBI Facebook page and shared with other members to encourage further thought and conversation.
