Tri NZ seeking Age Group Team Managers for Canada and China

National governing body Triathlon NZ (Tri NZ) is after passionate, organisation-savvy, team management professionals keen on volunteering their talents as an Age Group Team Manager and helping New Zealand triathletes to achieve international success.

In a short term volunteer role (until late September/October 2014), the Age Group Team Managers will represent NZ internationally – travelling to either Canada or China for ITU World Championships:

In the unique short-term volunteer roles, individuals will be charged with leading a team of age group triathletes to the 2014 ITU World Championships. This means helping coordinate all travel logistics, allocating various team positions and providing regular, informative and engaging team updates. The Team Manager will spread attention across all team members and become the athletes’ first point of contact.

Travelling to the international events (in August or September) as the team spokesperson, each Team Manager will ensure everything runs smoothly; and finally, upon return they’ll produce an event report that includes recommendations for the future.

Success will come down to a genuine interest in the triathlon scene, a head for logistics and experience with event management and/or leading group travel. As Tri NZ notes, ‘professionalism, customer service focus, supreme positivity and tenacity will be evident as you do whatever you can to inspire and support athletes.’

The successful individuals will need to remain calm under pressure, proactively communicating across the board and effectively solving problems (even when bombarded with questions from all directions). To top it off, Age Group Team Managers won’t shy away from public speaking and will enjoy putting their writing talents and newsletter design skills to good use.

While there is no monetary remuneration – airfares, transfers, accommodation, insurance and uniform are covered – and there’s a ‘more than adequate daily allowance too’.

Candidates can get to the heart of NZ’s triathlon scene and volunteer their talents by contacting triworlds[at]triathlon.kiwi.

The application closing date is to be confirmed (although, likely not before early June).
