ITU World Triathlon Chicago has announced a two-year partnership with TYR Sport, which designates the apparel, swim and wetsuit company as the Official Swim Partner of the event in 2014, as well as the 2015 ITU World Triathlon Series Grand Final and Age-Group World Championships.
The partnership grants TYR exclusivity in the categories of technical wear, swim wear and swim accessories. (The latest deal also builds on a strong relationship between TYR and national governing body USA Triathlon, with TYR recently renewing its Gold-Level Partnership with USAT through 2016.)
More than 4,000 athletes are expected to compete at the Chicago event, slated for 27-29 June 2014 in Grant Park. TYR Sport will provide all age-group and elite competitors with a participant race bag; the company will also provide all athletes in each of the six races with an event-specific swim cap.
Additionally, TYR wetsuits will be available to rent and/or buy at the Chicago race. Local retail partner Running Away Multisport will be on site to facilitate the program, and interested athletes can contact Running Away Multisport prior to the event to secure their wetsuit.

The City of Chicago joins the ITU World Triathlon Series in 2014 and 2015, including the 2015 ITU World Triathlon Grand Final and Age Group World Championships. One of just eight series events around the globe in 2014, Chicago will welcome 130 of the world’s top Olympic-distance triathletes alongside such cities as Auckland, Cape Town, Yokohama, London, Hamburg, Stockholm and Edmonton.
In addition to the elite races, the event features top-flight Olympic- and sprint-distance age-group races, as well as two relay options, offering amateurs the chance to compete in the same epic venue as the world’s best athletes. Launched in 2009, the ITU World Triathlon Series is televised in more than 160 countries.
