British Triathlon has confirmed that Llanelli in South Wales will host the 2015 British Paratriathlon Championships on Saturday 16 May. The event will crown British Champions and decide which athletes have the opportunity to compete at major championship events including the European and world championships.
Paratriathletes in all classifications will compete along the stunning Millennium Coastal Path over the sprint distance (750m swim, 20K bike, 5K run). The multi-lap format is ideal for fast racing and allows spectators to get close to the action.
Jonathon Riall, British Triathlon’s Paratriathlon Head Coach said “The event is really important as it’s the British Championships and it’s our selection event for all of the major championships in 2015. We are really appreciative of the support being shown to us from [local event organiser] Healthy Life Activities and are excited to work together to deliver a top class racing environment.”
Healthy Active Lifestyles Race Director, Noelwyn Daniel said “Healthy Life Activities are extremely proud to be welcoming the British Paratriathlon Championships to Llanelli. We have an excellent course and there will be a warm Welsh welcome to all Paratriathletes and their supporters.”
In addition to the Paratriathlon race, the event will host the Junior Gateway race for the British Triathlon Talent Programme. This race will see Britain’s top junior triathletes compete for selection at upcoming ETU European Championship and Continental races.
