The 2015 CEP BallBuster will take place on Saturday 7 November, held at its traditional home of Box Hill, Surrey, UK. Organised by Human Race, this ultra-tough duathlon has maintained a reputation over the past three decades as an extreme test of endurance.
In recent years, demand for places has exceeded availability, as the location limits the capacity. This year CEP, which offers a range of compression sportswear, has become title sponsor of the event. Only 500 entries will be accepted, so places are expected to be highly sought after.
The organising team note that those who think they are tough enough can sign up for this year’s edition now, but will have to be quick as over half the entries have already gone.
The CEP BallBuster starts with an eight mile undulating run taking in beautiful scenery around the National Trust site in Surrey. Once they have returned to the top it’s into transition for a quick switch over to the cycle leg. This follows the same 8 mile route, which everybody must complete a muscle draining three times. There’s no time to celebrate when that’s complete though as one final eight mile lap by foot is required before crossing the finish line.
The BallBuster has been running since 1990, when it was one of the very first events conceived by organsiers Human Race. It is known to many as a bucket-list event, ‘one that must be attempted at least once in a lifetime and a true mark of multi-sport achievement.’
One of the many things that make the CEP BallBuster unique is the reward for completing the course. The BallBuster hooded top has become an annual tradition, ‘a top quality limited edition memento only awarded to those who cover every inch of the 40 miles.’ Human Race adds that this year’s midnight blue design is sure to be proudly worn as a medal of honour for many years to come.
