Thousands of runners and spectators at the Decathlon We Love Manchester 10K will have the chance to sample some award-winning food, drink and crafts, following a new partnership for the event’s athlete village.

The Makers Market, which runs popular markets throughout the North West of England, has forged a partnership with the 10K’s organizers, Sports Tours International, to bring a special Makers Market to the Decathlon We Love Manchester 10K, which takes place on Sunday 12 July.

The event will take place at the Regional Athletics Arena at Sports City, and will follow a route around the outside of the Etihad Stadium, home of Manchester City Football Club and the local area.

Victoria Jackson, Event Manager of the Makers Market said “We’re delighted to be working alongside Sports Tours International to bring a Makers Market to the Decathlon We Love Manchester 10K.

“The stalls on show have been hand selected to tantalise and delight thousands of runners and their families, with a mixture of healthy and indulgent foodie treats, plus art, design and craft. Being a family friendly event, young visitors will be catered for too, with face painting and activities to keep them entertained.”

Following the race, runners can restore energy levels in the Street Food area, which will showcase a variety of tasty street food prepared by Manchester based chefs. Food on offer will include: wood fired pizza, pulled pork and Caribbean chicken, finished off with artisan ice creams and juices.

Chief Executive of Sports Tours International Chris Bird commented, “We are thrilled to welcome the Makers Market on board for this year’s race and offer runners and participants the chance to sample some fantastic, local food, arts and crafts.

“It will be a very popular addition especially for runners who need to refuel after a long race.”

The race, known as the ‘people’s run’ will raise money for the We Love Manchester Charity which has a focus on disadvantaged children, young people, families and older people.

The race starts at 09.30 BST on 12 July, and the stalls will be available from 08:00 -13:00.
