FINIS, a worldwide leader in technical swimming innovation, has released Duo, a sleek, streamlined underwater MP3 player designed to help swimmers find more enjoyment in the pool by allowing them to experience music underwater.
FINIS first emerged on the underwater electronics market in 2005 with its first generation waterproof MP3 player, the SwiMP3, which offered a patented and innovative bone conduction audio transmission that sent sound waves through the cheekbones to the inner ear to deliver audio. TIME Magazine called it one of the top sporting goods items of the year.
The second-generation music player, The Neptune, progressed on the product technology with increased storage capacity and a more functional design, and earned a Red Dot Design Award in 2013. Now, FINIS is innovating again with the Duo, which features a lighter, sleeker design, faster synching and ‘crystal clear audio sound’.
“The Duo is our third underwater MP3 player, and is our best one yet,” said John Mix, CEO of FINIS. “We focus on bone conduction audio transmission because earbuds are not ideal for underwater due to the inner ear wax produced during swimming.
“While this wax protects the inner ear, it also prevents sound from fully entering the eardrum. The Duo provides a solution to this problem and offers impeccable sound that makes for a more enjoyable swim experience.”
Featuring a 7-hour rechargeable battery, the capacity to store over 60 hours of playback and a simplified interface that supports MP3 and WMA files (the Duo is fully compatible with iTunes), the new audio-swim offerin is designed to take swimmers’ workouts to the next level of performance.
The IPX8 certified player also includes an integrated clip that secures to goggle straps for a comfortable and streamlined fit that should not interrupt the swim stroke.

The Duo is available in two colour variants (Dark Gray/Mint and Black/Acid Green) and is available online and in retail stores from today.
