The team at Broken Bones Bicycle Company points out that in every difficult undertaking there is the inherent risk of falling down and failing. Some of us relent to this fear, reluctant to take the risk. Broken Bones makes the statement that it doesn’t matter whether you fail or succeed; the important thing is that you get back up.
The Broken Bones Bicycle Company was born after a bad crash on the track. Company founder Josh Horowitz was lying in a hospital bed flipping the pages of a cycling magazine. He began to feel that the bike designs and ads in the mag were lacking colour, creativity, edginess or inspiration.
Horowitz said, “There was a disparity between the truth of the sport and the image of the sport, and I decided to fix it.”
He continued, “Life is about taking chances, pushing beyond your limits, laying it out on the line, and basking in the amazing feeling of adrenaline pumping through your body. Broken Bones Bicycle Company was created to pay tribute to the riders. We crash and we crash and we get back up.”
The company is inviting riders and cycling fans in general to pledge a commitment to this life philosophy and to enable Josh Horowitz to formally launch Broken Bones Bicycle Company through participating in a new Kickstarter campaign. In the next 40 days, Broken Bones hopes to raise US$20,000 in seed capital.
Broken Bones, and its range of products (bottles, bags, street clothing, cycling kits, fixies and high-end performance road bikes) aims to express ‘cycling’s most addictive, attractive qualities through its edgy, street-art inspired designs.’
The Kickstarter campaign video also features a heartwarming mini-movie featuring Josh’s daughter, Polly, in her voice-over debut. Josh added, “It’s really touching – please watch it!”
The Kickstarter project will only be funded if at least US$20,000 is pledged by Saturday 18 July 2015, 21:13 BST.
