With four years of stateside multisport event production under its belt, HITS Endurance, in partnership with the Bahamas Roadmasters, will debut its first international road race at the celebrated, family-centric Atlantis Resort in Paradise Island, Bahamas, on Sunday 22 November 2015.
Geared towards families of all ages and athletic abilities, race day will boast the HITS Running Festivals Half Marathon Championship and a Friends & Family Mile; all of which will operate in conjunction with the Bahamas Roadmasters’ third-annual Bahamas Half Marathon and 10K events.
Hailed as one of the top vacation destinations for families large or small, Atlantis Paradise Island will host HITS’ expansive race site, which includes a two-day Fitness Expo, Athlete Reception, designated fan zones and finish line.
HITS has partnered with the resort to offer athletes, their families and spectators exclusive rates throughout race weekend, beginning at US$159 per night. Accommodations are expected to sell out and all interested parties are encouraged to book early.
“Athletes will have the opportunity to race a picturesque Oceanside course during peak Caribbean vacation season, while their family, friends and spectators enjoy all that the Atlantis has to offer including a 141-acre Water Park, interactive Dolphin programs, educational marine exhibits and more,” said HITS CEO and President Tom Struzzieri.
“As one of the Caribbean’s prime destinations, we play host to many large-scale international events. It is a role we feel comfortable with and one that we strive to outdo the following day,” added Bahamas Tourism Communications Manager Anita Johnson-Patty. “Needless to say, we want to share this tropical oasis we call home with the rest of the world. Our home is your home.”
The Half Marathon course is being finalized and will be announced in the coming weeks. The race organizers assure athletes that the course will feature competitor friendly routes throughout Paradise Island and neighboring Downtown Nassau. In addition, Half Marathon participants will be racing for a piece of a ‘significant prize purse provided by HITS’. “The HITS Half Marathon Championship will allot athletes plenty of opportunities to PR in paradise,” added HITS’ Struzzieri. “The courses are flat, fast and showcase premier beachfront trails, as well as the islands most cultural neighborhoods.”

Registration for the HITS Running Festivals Half Marathon Championship and Friends & Family Mile is currently open on Active.com. Entry fees for the Half Marathon, Half Marathon Relay and Mile are US$90, US$105 and US$10, respectively.
