Interbike, the largest bicycle industry trade show in North America, has announced the first of several educational initiatives to take place at the event this autumn/fall. The first of which is a more robust NBDA Super Seminar series of presenters, and a new on-floor platform deemed ‘The Retail Resource Initiative’ which will be provided by a new partnership with the Independent Retailer Conference (IRC).
Interbike returns to the Mandalay Bay Convention Center beginning with OutDoor Demo in Boulder City, Nevada on 14-15 September 2015, followed by the Interbike Expo on 16-18 September 2015.
The NBDA is bringing ‘a new rush of adrenaline’ to its popular seminar series at Interbike by incorporating new presenters, shorter sessions, new ideas and a continuous blast of retail insight and inspiration to the show. The new ‘Super Seminars Plus’ will aim to deliver a solid return on investment for retail attendees looking for way to improve their overall business.
“We took a hard look at the Super Seminars from years’ past, and really wanted to shake things up a bit,” said Fred Clements, Executive Director for the NBDA. “I feel like the calibre of speakers, and the host of new topics we’re tackling along with a shorter presentation format will make this inaugural edition of the Super Seminars Plus the best we’ve ever produced.”
A few examples of the fresh content include:
- Do You Have a Digital Shoplifting Problem? (Jim Dion, Owner, Dionco, Inc.)
- Retail Design Review: Designing The Customer Experience (Alison Medina, Editor, design:retail Magazine)
- Death by Discounting (Donny Perry, Author and SBCU Program Manager)

New for 2015 is the addition of a dedicated area in the Interbike lobby called The Retail Resource Initiative, which will be presented by the Independent Retailer Conference (IRC). The IRC is a group of retail experts that work closely with service providers which many retailers are currently utilizing or are considering.
Within the on-floor space, the IRC will deliver short, 15-20 minute sessions from retail experts and service providers from a variety of companies, such as Constant Contact, PayAnywhere and Kiser & Bender. Attendees can expect an interactive experience that leaves them better informed and more inspired – with takeaway tools and resources to bring back to their stores for immediate implementation. A complete list of participating service providers will be available on the Interbike website in the next two weeks.
“These are just two aspects of education at Interbike that we’re excited about,” said Pat Hus, Vice President of Interbike. “We have several other pieces to the puzzle that are planned for the show which we’ll be announcing in the coming weeks. Education for our attendees has always been a cornerstone of Interbike and we just want to take it to another level moving forward. There is no other outlet for this kind of knowledge and what’s amazing is that it is made available at no cost to our attendees.”
