Just how big an impact did the IRONMAN Foundation make in 2014? Here are some of the numbers.
1021 – Number of Community Fund Grants given out in 2014, including:
- US$10,000 to Interfaith of the Woodlands in Texas, which served 133 families and nearly 550 individuals in crisis with 266 bags of perishable and nonperishable food items.
- US$20,000 to Environmental Learning for Kids (ELK), which provided hands-on science education, leadership development and experiences in Colorado’s outdoors for more than 900 low-income, culturally diverse youth from the Denver area.
- US$30,000 to KEEN Phoenix, which delivered 1,500 hours of free sports and recreation sessions for 106 children and youth with disabilities. Leveraging 1,800 hours of volunteer engagement, this grant provided a value of over US$220,000 to their community.
- US$35,000 to The Madison Sports Commission, which provided financial assistance to 21 organizations serving over 600 Dane County, Wisconsin youth. These programmes work with at-risk youth and connects them to sports, and in many cases with other support services as they grow to adulthood.
51 – Number of IRONMAN race communities supported through grants from the IRONMAN Foundation’s Community Fund Program.
185 – Number of athletes participating in the Foundation’s Your Journey, Your Cause programme, which raised US$511,174 to be donated to 135 charities selected by the athletes themselves.
US$161,934 – Amount donated to 108 first responder groups, including the US$78,621 value of grants for critical life-saving equipment provided to 7 first responder groups through the Foundation’s partnership with the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation.
15 – Number of charitable organizations supported by IRONMAN 4 the Kidz in South Africa. The programme raised 2.1 million Rand (US$180,440) this year, bringing the total amount raised since inception to over 8.7 million Rand (US$747,648).
3,250 – Number of IRONMAN Foundation Community Fund race entries available to athletes.
20 – Number of Charity Partner Teams in 2014, which raised US$6,722,715 through their involvement with IRONMAN events.
US$1,206,415 – Amount provided through community and volunteer grants from the IRONMAN Foundation’s Community Fund.
US$84,674 – Amount that Jordan Rapp raised through his Rappstar Charity Challenge campaign.
US$180,000 – Total dollars raised through the annual IRONMAN eBay Auction for four entries to the IRONMAN World Championship. The average winning bid was US$45,050.
9,948 – Number of donors supporting the IRONMAN Foundation programmes online, with an average donation of US$123.91 per donor.
102,585 – Pounds of nonperishable food donated and transported for distribution to those in need in race communities. The national non-profit organization Move For Hunger joined forces with the IRONMAN Foundation in 2014 to fill the nation’s food banks. In an effort to give back to the local community, the IRONMAN Foundation donated leftover food from four full distance IRONMAN races to neighbourhood food banks in Louisville, KY, Madison, WI, Panama City Beach, FL, and Boulder, CO.
42 – Number of athletes on the IRONMAN Foundation Newton Running Ambassador Tri Team who raised US$79,296 to support the IRONMAN Foundation in making an impact in 3 IRONMAN race communities.
US$32,392,588 – Amount provided in charitable support to non-profits globally through IRONMAN Foundation programmes since inception.
