The International Triathlon Union (ITU) has announced that leading sports audio producer Jabra is now on board with the 2015 ITU World Triathlon Series (ITU WTS) as a global partner.
With the recent introduction of the Jabra Sport Pulse Wireless, the first Dolby-enhanced wireless earbuds with a built-in heart rate monitor, Jabra is aiming to become a category leader. The Sport Pulse, which offers superior sound quality for music entertainment during an athlete’s training, also provides real-time in-ear coaching. This is through an intuitive integration with the proprietary Jabra Sports Life app.
Positioned as a valuable training tool to help athletes ‘Beat their Best’, the Jabra Sport Pulse is aimed at the lifestyles and rigorous training schedule of triathletes and runners who compete in multisport events, marathons and other races.
“Not only are Jabra’s unique earbuds aptly designed for the active, early adaptive triathlon demographic, the company’s message to improve your performance with hard work and preparation resonates strongly with ITU’s core values,” said ITU President and IOC Member Marisol Casado.
Entering its seventh year in 2015, the ITU World Triathlon Series will showcase ten events, including the Gold Coast leg of the series on 11-12 April 2015. Each event will feature elite races that offer Olympic qualifying points en route to the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games.
Each stage will also offer mass participation races, enabling participation from everyday triathletes on a global scale, with the elite races broadcast internationally, as well as streamed online.
On the Gold Coast the mass participation event will be the Gold Coast Triathlon – Luke Harrop Memorial. Following the tragic death of Luke Harrop in January 2002, a Gold Coast resident and one of Australia’s most respected triathletes, the race became known as the Luke Harrop Memorial.
Since then, the Gold Coast Triathlon has grown in stature and has become a must-do event on the race calendar.
Jabra will activate at the Gold Coast leg of the WTS race with its performance headphones, as well as with a series-long competition that offers athletes entered in a WTS race a chance to win a trip and entry to the next WTS event in which Jabra enjoys a presence.
“Triathlon is the ultimate healthy lifestyle sport and the World Triathlon Series is the pinnacle circuit for the sport, offering both elite competition and mass participation races, which is a perfect match for Jabra,” said Jonathan Pennington, Jabra Brand Director.
He continued, “We believe in inspiring and enabling everyone to go out and beat their best, whatever their best is – whether it’s their first triathlon and the aim is to just finish or whether it is to shave seconds off that personal best. We couldn’t be more excited to be a partner for the 2015 Series, and further enhance our brand as a leader in sports audio solutions.”
In line with its campaign to help athletes beat their best, Jabra will also host the official results at the majority of the events in which it sponsors.
Jabra will kick off its partnership at the series’ season opener in Abu Dhabi before touching down in Gold Coast, then London, Hamburg, Stockholm, Edmonton and the Chicago Grand Final.
