Touted as one of the fastest races in the world, the inaugural Challenge CamSur event in the Philippines, to be held on 14 June 2015 and title sponsored by Yellow Cab Pizza Co is bringing together a draw of local celebrities, world class triathletes and age groupers.
The organizing team at Yellow Cab Challenge Philippines will aim to offer an ‘organized, safe, and beautiful race course while giving the participants the opportunity to compete at the highest levels.’
CamSur Governor Migz Villafuerte said that the local municipality and surrounding region are ‘delighted to be part of one of the biggest triathlon franchises in the world and that the province of CamSur holds a unique draw when it comes to hosting such international sporting events.’
“We in the province of CamSur are proud to be part of the Challenge Family global series!” Villafuerte said.
“There is strong government support and we are able to offer a complete and integrated package. To add to all these is the enthusiasm and involvement of the local residents who go out as early as 4am and line the race routes to cheer for the competitors.”
Yellow Cab Challenge CamSur notes that it will aim to be the only triathlon event in the Philippines that will have a geographically balanced representation. While most races in the Philippines are attended by triathletes from Metro Manila, Yellow Cab’s Challenge CamSur will aim to have a more diverse field of participants and a wider reach. Out of 80 provinces, 25 to 30 are expected to take part in the event while 30 cities out of 130 are estimated to get on board.
With pro and celebrity triathletes from all over the world heading to the one of the fastest competitions in the international Challenge Family series, the 2015 Challenge CamSur is positioned as a race to look forward to. Spectators are encouraged to join in all of the festivities and there will be special new cheering stations along the course.
Dave Voth, Leverage Sports Asia CEO and Chairman of Yellow Cab Challenge Philippines, said that Camarines Sur in the Philippines is a place where triathletes celebrate this sport especially for Pinoys/Filipinos.
“Our new Challenge CamSur has a wonderful legacy in Pinoy triathlon history because it’s a great place for a triathlon — an Olympic village setting. I see CamSur as a festival where the best triathletes in the world come together and celebrate this great sport,” Voth said.
Challenge Family’s broadcast coverage of the race is expected to reach over 82 counties worldwide showcasing the Philippines as a lifestyle and sports destination.
Aside from the main event and other activities, there will be ‘an epic post-race awards party at the CWC Convention Center.’ The inaugural race in CamSur for long distance racing and all other festivities will be held at the CamSur Watersports Complex.
