Strava unveils Photo Sharing, ‘My Recent Efforts’ and Improved Leaderboards

Strava 4_4 iPhone 6 - Cycling

Strava, the global online community for athletes, has updated its mobile app to continue its mission to connect, motivate and inspire athletes. Available for download today, the updated app (version 4.4) includes new, innovative and improved features designed exclusively for mobile devices:

Strava Photos: With Strava Photos, athletes can now attach photos to their activities directly from their mobile camera app or photo album. Strava athletes have already shared more than 10 million photos by linking their Instagram accounts to recorded activities, and Strava Photos will enable them to seamlessly share a visual story of their ride or run with as many photos as they choose at any time they wish.

My Recent Efforts: Building on the success of the recently launched Matched Runs feature, My Recent Efforts allows runners and cyclists to analyse and compare their past segment performances directly from a mobile device. My Recent Efforts makes it easier than ever for athletes to analyse their activities, track improvement over time and find motivation to train.

Improved leaderboards: Redesigned mobile leaderboards give athletes easier access to segment rankings among the athletes they follow, their Clubs and the entire Strava community. Strava Premium athletes can now also access personalised leaderboards from their mobile devices, allowing quick comparisons to other Strava athletes of the same weight or age.

“Version 4.4 really enhances the Strava mobile experience for our athletes,” says Aaron Forth, Chief Product Officer at Strava. “Strava Photos adds more depth to the stories Strava athletes tell one another through their activities. My Recent Efforts and the improved leaderboards will enable athletes using smartphones to track their progress over time, while also seeing how their performances stack up among the athletes and Clubs they follow.”

He added, “All of the new and updated features are elegantly designed and integrated into the app. Version 4.4 has exciting new features while still providing an intuitive and engaging experience.”

Pricing and availability
With the exception of updated Premium leaderboards, all the features of version 4.4 are available after updating the Strava app or downloading for free at the App Store or Google Play. Premium athletes will have access to all the new features and leaderboards, as well as in-depth performance analysis, custom training plans designed by expert coaches, workout videos, and member-only rewards and benefits – all for £3.99 per month or £39.99 per year.

Strava aims to unlock the potential of a global community of athletes. Strava’s innovative mobile apps and website connect, motivate and inspire runners and cyclists throughout their experience, from exploration and adventure to training and competition. Designed by athletes, for athletes, Strava unites millions from around the world every day through the sports they love.
