2731 international trade visitors and 788 journalists got to test and experience bike innovations in action at the ninth Eurobike Demo Day on 25 August 2015. The parade of innovations came from 172 exhibitors and brands, with Demo Day taking place next to the main show halls for Eurobike in Friedrichshafen, Germany; and last but not least, the summer sun ‘created ideal conditions for the global bike test day.’
“Demo Day, a combination of innovation show and bike event, is the perfect kickoff for Eurobike and offers the unique opportunity to experience the new season’s trends in action,” concluded Messe Friedrichshafen CEO Klaus Wellmann.
The ninth Demo Day 2015 featured a top lineup: in Friedrichshafen, a ‘who’s who of the global bicycle industry’ presented the newest racing bikes, e-bikes and recumbent, folding and mountain bikes. Product tests were conducted on five bike trails stretching a total of 20 kilometres, a mountain bike course built especially for the event, and, for the first time, a new wooden pump track.
“Our prologue for the 24th Eurobike was a success,” said Eurobike Project Leader Dirk Heidrich, reviewing the kick-off event.
“Feedback on Demo Day has been excellent and we are pleased that, with (a new record of) 2731 trade visitors (2014: 2642) attending, so many bike fans have taken the opportunity to try out the bike premieres of the coming year.”
A large number of media representatives also made sure to use the opportunity to test the newest developments for the 2016 season. This year, 788 journalists (2014: 784) from 34 countries reported on the bike innovations to audiences all around the world.
Eurobike is open to industry visitors from Wednesday 26 August until Friday 28 August from 08:30 to 18:30 CET daily. The show will be open to consumers on Saturday 29 August from 09:00 to 18:00.
Exhibitor comments on Eurobike Demo Day 2015
- Todd Anderson, Marketing, SRAM: “Demo Day went well for us. Above all, we like the central location right on the fairgrounds. There was a lot happening for us and a lot of people were testing our products. It is nice here in Friedrichshafen. Demo Day was busy for us and that’s a good thing.”
- Michael Klampfel, Sales, Marin: “We had many interested visitors at our stand, demand has been strong and sometimes we were practically mobbed. Our Enduros are especially in demand.
- Francesco Baroni, Marketing & Communication, Bianchi: “It went very well for us. Our focus on pure innovations in the ultra-light racing bikes series brought a lot of interested visitors to the stand.”
- Josh Hon, Team Captain, Tern: “The response to this year’s Demo Day was even better than last year. Folding bikes still have a lot of potential to reach new target groups through new categories like folding e-bikes, the first folding cargo bike, and premium commuter bikes with belt drive.”
