One of the most prolific British triathletes of recent times, Tim Don, has joined the On family pairing another world class athlete with the award-winning Swiss running shoe brand.
Don, a three time Olympian with the British tri team, boasts wins at the World Duathlon, Aquathlon and Triathlon Championships in a lengthy palmares spanning a career of 16 years and counting. The 37 year-old is also a five-time British champion. According to On, he will provide vital expertise and experience to the brand as it looks to use the expertise of its athletes in the development of its new and current shoes.
Talking of his new partnership with On, Tim Don said “I am definitely ready to run on clouds! The transition to On shoes was seamless. In fact, one of the first runs in the shoes was a marathon on a treadmill. The technology of the On shoes allowed me to avoid the day after soreness that typically comes with a marathon, let alone a treadmill marathon. I’m excited to be on a team that continues to push the technology envelope with shoes. Love the new colours too!”
After many years at the height of short-course triathlon, Don took the step to the half Ironman distance, and in 2014 took bronze at the Ironman 70.3 World Championships. This result, together with a string of other top performances and a win at his debut Ironman in Mallorca, secured Don a spot at his first Ironman World Championships in 2015.
“Having another hugely experienced athlete on board such as Tim is a big achievement for our brand, as we continue to make leaps and bounds as we head into our fifth year in the business,” said On co-founder David Allemann. “It will be superb to see Tim competing in On shoes at the Ironman World Championships this year alongside multi-time champion Frederik van Lierde. Don will run in training sessions on Cloudsurfer and Cloudrunner and will race in Cloudracer and Cloud models.
Don is one of several new On athletes in 2015 as the brand expands its presence in triathlon.
