The Media Trust is hosting its first media and advertising triathlon in a bid to harness the inherent competitiveness within the industry and to raise support and awareness for its work benefiting other charities, young people and communities.
Held on 10 July 2015 at Dorney Lake, near Windsor, this triathlon will give anyone in the UK media industry the chance to outperform executives from companies such as Dentsu Aegis and Google, or beat big name media players such as Sky News and the Daily Mail to the line.
The Media Trust Triathlon is sponsored by Dentsu Aegis Network, Google, Daily Mail and DNA Recruitment.
Chief Executive and founder of the Media Trust, Caroline Diehl, said the charity was thrilled to be hosting this triathlon, and is appealing to everyone in the industry, whatever their fitness, to get involved.
“The event is an exciting opportunity for the media and advertising industry to feed its competitive spirit whilst supporting Media Trust in their work to change lives through the power of creativity”, she said.
“We urge the media and advertising industry to sign up and start training for what is likely to be a thrilling day.”
Jerry Buhlmann CEO at Dentsu Aegis Network and a Media Trust Trustee said, “Media Trust provides vital communications support for charities, community groups and young people. It is fantastic to see our industry collaborating to grow awareness of their work to transform the communications potential of more charities and groups across the UK.”
Matt Brittin, Vice President, EMEA Business & Operations, Google, said “Strong communications is the lifeblood of all successful charities; and Media Trust plays a vital role in arming charities with the skills they need to get their voices heard. The Media Trust Triathlon 2015 is a great opportunity for the industry to support this great charity and, in turn, hundreds of other charities too.”
Rosemary Gorman, Group Advertisement Director at Mail Newspapers, added “Mail Newspapers are delighted to be supporting the Media Trust’s 2015 Triathlon. This is a great opportunity for our industry to show off its competitive side and to support the Media Trust who do such great work in utilising our industry’s unique communications skills to benefit a host of other charitable causes.”
Ali Wallace, founder and managing director of DNA Recruitment said the triathlon was a “marvellous way to get agencies and brands raising money for Media Trust, which is fantastic industry related cause.
“Equally important is promoting the need for all businesses to encourage their staff to get away from their desks and develop active working lives.”
For those who might find the prospect of doing a full Olympic triathlon a bit daunting, there are several other categories in which to participate, including a duathlon and a Super Sprint-length triathlon. Contestants can also enter as part of a relay team.
