Weekend Warrior format proving popular at Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research Blenheim Palace Triathlon

Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research Blenheim Palace Triathlon 2014

According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, the definition of a Weekend Warrior is ‘a person who does a particular activity (such as sport) only on the weekends’. However, according to race organizer IMG Challenger World, the Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research Blenheim Palace Triathlon meaning is somewhat different..

Weekend Warrior: ‘A person of great ambition, not satisfied with the achievement of taking part in the challenge of one triathlon but wanting to push their body to the limit and complete as many triathlons as they possibly can, on one weekend!’

In an addition to the 2013 event, the ‘Weekend Warrior’ was trialled by a group of amateur athletes who completed 24 successive triathlons over the course of two days, battling it out for the title of ‘Ultimate Weekend Warrior’.

In 2014 and 2015 the ‘Weekend Warrior’ format returns as an entry type. Participants are challenged to complete as many sprint triathlons as possible over two days.
