A study conducted by the bike industry portal OnBikeX.de has found that the Eurobike trade fair at Lake Constance in southern Germany, which gets under way on 31 August, remains of the ‘highest importance for the specialized retail segment’.
The coming August will mark a special occasion for the Eurobike: the 25th edition of the exhibition simultaneously marks its 25th anniversary! Eurobike premiered in August 1991 (and was not held in 1992). The fair has long since moved beyond its beginnings as an event for the mountain bike scene, then of rather modest size, and has since established itself as ‘the world’s leading trade fair for the bike industry with around 1,350 exhibitors’.
Although positioned as an international trade fair, Eurobike is ‘held dear at home in Germany, too’, remaining one of the most important appointments of the year for domestic specialist visitors. This was emphasized by the recent study performed by the online portal OnBikeX.de.
The database of OnBikeX.de contains ‘practically every company relevant to the specialized bike trade in Germany’. The study identified all the most significant suppliers and manufacturers in the German bike trade. Then this listing from the OnBikeX database was compared with the latest listing of exhibitors who will be at this year’s Eurobike.
The results: Germany’s bike trade is served with goods from a total of 538 suppliers. Of those, 455 will be represented at the 2016 edition of Eurobike. Thus, bike dealers from Germany will be able to meet about 85% of their suppliers and manufacturers at the specialist trade fair in Friedrichshafen.
“The most important function of a leading trade fair is to serve as a central meeting point for its entire industry, to spare everyone in the market the expense of organizing or attending numerous smaller individual events,” said Stefan Reisinger, Managing Director at Messe Friedrichshafen responsible for Eurobike.
“The study by OnBikeX.de nicely confirms the value of the Eurobike as the most important date for Germany’s bike trade.”
And the organising team add that the figure of 85% may yet climb a bit higher by the time Eurobike starts on 31 August.
“We haven’t yet finalized the distribution of stands at the 2016 Eurobike, and in the next few days we’ll be able to invite a few of the companies on our list of new customers to attend. And those customers were not considered in the study by OnBikeX.de,” Reisinger explained.
Eurobike 2016 will take place from Wednesday 31 August to Saturday 9 September, from 09:00 to 18:00 CET, and on Sunday 4 September, from 09:00 to 17:00. Eurobike 2016 Business Days (Wednesday to Friday) are exclusively open to trade visitors and accredited journalists. Eurobike 2016 Festival Days (Saturday and Sunday) are open to the general public.
The dates for next year’s 26th edition of Eurobike have also been set: 30 August to 3 September 2017.
