High-end carbon-fibre component manufacturer Atomik Carbon has announced disc brake versions of select models in its line of premium road wheels.
Atomik recently made its paved debut with three tubeless-ready carbon clincher wheels featuring a wind tunnel-tested Aero-U profile ‘for maximum speed and efficiency coupled with predictable handling in a wide variety of conditions’. The addition of disc versions for its 38c and 50c models expands options for riders and racers looking to take full advantage of the power and control of modern disc brake equipped road bikes.
“We created a sprint-ready wheel that can just as comfortably settle in for a century,” said Kevin Lineberger, Atomik’s Vice President. “Add the power, modulation and control of disc brakes and you’re ready to drop the anchor with just as much authority as you drop the hammer.”
Having cut its teeth on carbon with high-end mountain bike wheels and components, extending its carbon engineering expertise to road seemed like a natural evolution for the Atomik brand.
Atomik Road Disc wheels are precision engineered with a proprietary prepreg and layup featuring Japanese Toray composite technology for a combination of ‘precise handling and power transfer coupled with unsurpassed ride quality’.
All wheels are six-bolt disc compatible and directionally drilled, featuring Sandvik Stainless Steel aero-bladed spokes laced to Atomik four-pawl hubs, with 24 points of engagement (POE) featuring a full compliment of stainless EZO bearings.
Atomik Carbon Road Disc wheels ship pre-taped for tubeless setup and with a Century Pack that includes one extra spoke of each spoke length, a 10-speed spacer, tubeless valves and skewers/axles (based on configuration).
Atomik Carbon Road Disc wheels are backed by a ‘one-year no-questions-asked replacement warranty’ covering up to two rims for the original owner, and are available now as complete builds through premium local bike shops and via Atomik Carbon’s consumer direct program at AtomikCarbon.com for an MSRP of US$1,549.
