Beachbody Performance has announced a new addition to the IRONMAN race experience: a Recover Zone stationed at the finish line of every IRONMAN triathlon in the United States for the remainder of the 2016 race season.
The Beachbody Performance Recover Zone will ‘strive to be a relaxing and comforting rest area for athletes who have just completed the iconic full-distance 140.6-mile triathlon.’
The company adds that the zone will feature turf to sprawl on, inflatable chairs, post-event recovery fuelling, massage tools and a soothing ambiance to serve as a ‘transition area three’ – designed to transition athletes from the intensity of competition into a post-race state of mind.
“It sounds like a simple idea, but it actually stems from our own staff’s experience in racing IRONMAN events,” said Jon Congdon, co-founder and Chief Marketing Officer of Beachbody.
“The race experience and amenities at an IRONMAN are unmatched, but we did think there was an area we could help support: a place for athletes to compose themselves, to rest comfortably for a short while, and to reconnect with friends and family before leaving the athlete’s village. We also can provide post-race sports nutrition supplements in a critical time period to help speed their recovery after the race.”

Beyond the physical toll of the race, IRONMAN events exact an emotional and mental effort, and the Recover Zone can allow them to rest, meet with friends and family and process the day’s exertions.
The Recover Zone will also provide sports nutrition supplements to support the recovery needs of exhausted athletes, serving two products from the Beachbody Performance line:
- Beachbody Performance Recover, a post-training recovery protein shake that ‘helps jump start the recovery process after training or racing with a powerful blend of protein, and branched-chain amino acids’. These aid in muscle rebuilding and also include a pomegranate extract that delivers ellagitannin, ‘phytonutrients scientifically shown to help reduce training-induced muscle soreness and speed muscle strength recovery from intense training’. Available in Chocolate or Orange flavours.
- Beachbody Performance Recharge, a night-time formula combining slow-release protein and branched-chain amino acids to help reduce muscle breakdown while supporting overnight muscle recovery and repair plus a tart cherry powder that delivers anthocyanin, ‘phytonutrients scientifically shown to help improve recovery in both endurance and resistance training situations and reduce delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS) from intense training.’ Available in Vanilla flavour.
