Last week Brighton and Hove City Council gave its seal of approval for the second Brighton and Hove Triathlon to take place on Sunday 17 September 2017.

2016’s closed road Brighton and Hove Triathlon was seen to be a great success – with over 1,000 entrants. The triathlon ‘saw spectators in their thousands show their support along Brighton seafront for the first time event’. The event saw many athletes gain personal bests on the fast and flat traffic free course, raising over £30,000 for charity in the process.

The Brighton and Hove Triathlon also reportedly received a multitude of positive feedback from competitors… with one athlete noting “British triathlon back where it belongs, in the hands of a [race director] John Lunt posse.”

Next year’s race will open up to 2,000 competitors and will offer Olympic, Sprint (including draft legal), and Super Sprint distances. The organisers have also opened entries to youth and junior racing. The free Sport and Fitness Show running alongside the race hosted 70 exhibitors in 2016 and will also return for 2017 with more interactive sport activities for all the family.
