John Lunt and the team at the inaugural Brighton and Hove Triathlon have announced the creation of an Inter Regional Championship between the South East, South Central and London triathlon regions by hosting the first ever Inter Regional Championships in Brighton on Sunday 11 September 2016.
British Triathlon/Triathlon England members racing over the Sprint distance will be automatically entered to represent their region and compete to see who will be the Regional Champion in 2016. A trophy will be presented to the region that wins and awarded at the region’s AGM.
The categories for the Inter Regional Championships are available on the event website but will include Male and Female, juniors (18-20), Seniors (21-39), and Veterans (40+).
Event Director, John Lunt said “As way of supporting the regions and enhancing the value of being a Triathlon England member, we are delighted to originate the first ever Inter Regional Championships for age groupers. Brighton offers the perfect backdrop for a championship race with its closed sea front roads and a fantastic location together with a sports festival expo over a fun weekend.”
The Brighton and Hove Triathlon, will host over 1,500 triathletes on closed roads on Brighton and Hove seafront in September. Running alongside the event, is The Sport and Fitness Show, providing participants’ families with ‘a fun active day out over the weekend’.
