Countdown begins for 2017 Sport Psychology Congress in Seville 2017

Seville

The official countdown for Seville to host the 2017 Sport Psychology World Congress has started – one year before the conference will take place.

Taking place on 10-14 July 2017, it is expected that 1,000 participants from 50 different countries, and leading figures from the world of sport psychology, will visit the capital of Andalusia, Seville, in Spain, to take part in the International Society of Sport Psychology World Congress (ISSP).

Seville will be a world centre of sport psychology thanks to communications, posters, keynote speakers, speeches and discussions surrounding the topic in 2017. Sport psychology experts such as Adrian Taylor, Maria Kavussanu, David Tod, Dorothee Alfermann, Martin Hagger, Jaume Cruz, Yuji Yamamoto, Justine J. Reel, Jennifer L. Etnier, Gloria Balagué and José María Buceta will attend the event.

Ever since 2013, when the ISSP in Beijing decided unanimously that Seville would be the city of the 2017 World Congress, the society and the city of Seville have worked together on the event.

The congress will focus on the European scientific project ‘PsyTool’, whose headquarters is located in Seville, and it will take place at the Pablo de Olavide University. The new tool ‘PsyTool’ was created to ‘educate young athletes in values, eradicate violence and encourage fair play in sport thanks to sport psychology and training.’

The conclusions and results of the European project will be presented at the Sport Psychology World Congress in Seville, in July 2017.

The congress is supported by the Spanish Federation of Sport Psychology (FEPD), the Regional Department of Tourism and Sport of the Council of Andalusia, and the Provincial Council and the City Council of Seville.

Taking place from 10-14 July 2017, at the University of Seville, the congress will be supported by the Pablo de Olavide University. The event, which takes place in Spain for the second time ever, will host more than 1,000 international participants – to discuss issues of interest for sport psychologists, sSport professionals, coaches, referees, executives and athletes.
