Cycliq, a maker of innovative cycling accessories, has announced the availability of its newest product, Fly12. Designed for cyclists, a combination full HD camera and front light, the device aims to make commuters, road cyclists and mountain bikers more visible while recording the action ahead. It also includes a feature-rich companion app and integration with Strava.
Fly12 is compact with a modern design delivering ‘wide angle, HD 1080p footage for crystal clear recordings’. In camera-only mode it will record for up to 10 hours. At full power, the light delivers 400 lumens providing low light visibility and ‘enough output to negotiate unlit roads’. Utilising the latest nanotechnology and a weatherproof construction, Cycliq adds that Fly12 will not suffer from water ingress or corrosion.
Fly12 features a looping record so there should be no need to worry about running out of memory. The light also features ‘Incident Capture Technology’. Footage is automatically saved in the event of an incident. A 16GB Class 10 microSD card is also included, meaning Fly12 is ready to go straight from the box.
Fly12 features WiFi and Bluetooth for connectivity to the CycliqPlus companion app. The Fly12 app allows full control of settings and enables users to review and share video. Strava integration adds a choice of Strava ride characteristics such as speed, power, heart rate and map location, which can be overlaid onto the final video edit. Fly12 purchasers also receive three months free Strava Premium membership.
The Fly12 app also includes a bike alarm. Once armed, any movement of the bike will set off an audible alarm, start the light flashing and turn on the camera. An alert is then also sent to the paired smartphone notifying the bicycle owner.
Jeroen van Zon, Marketing Manager of Cycliq said “Fly12 is already in the hands of our Kickstarter backers after a second successful funding campaign, and we’re really excited now to be announcing worldwide stock availability this May.
“Fly12 not only helps us share the joy of cycling with our friends with dynamic Strava overlays, but helps keep us as cyclists and our bikes safe. Our rear facing Fly6 camera has already been used successfully in a number of police and insurance cases involving cyclists and other road users.”
Fly12 will retail for £249. It’s available online and independent bike dealers from 17 May.
