With just 300 race places available for the 2017 edition of the 32Gi Eastbourne Triathlon, general entries for next year’s event opened this week at 09:00 GMT on Tuesday 16 August.

Athletes swim 600m in the award-winning Eastbourne beach on the English South Coast, with the iconic pier serving as a backdrop. They then cycle 25km through the South Downs National Park and through National Trust protected sites including Birling Gap and Beachy Head on this challenging cycle course. They then run 5km up Beachy Head before turning for a view across the town and a flat and fast promenade finish in front of the historic Grand Hotel Eastbourne.

In addition to regular individual places for next year’s event, relay and Aquabike options are all available.

A release from the Eastbourne Triathlon organising team added, ‘We have some fab extras to announce over the next few weeks and months and hope that you and your whole family can come and enjoy this fantastic triathlon challenge.’

Race entry includes:

  • Technical race t-shirt
  • 32Gi Sports Gel
  • Prizes for 1st, 2nd, 3rd overall
  • Prizes for age group podiums
  • Race village with catering and trade stands
  • Free massage
  • Elite race taking part alongside age grouper event
  • ‘The friendliest marshals around!’

The Eastbourne Triathlon was re-launched in 2016 and is organised by the Eastbourne-based sports marketing, PR and events company, Beyond Sport Marketing. Billed as one of the ‘hottest triathlons in 2016’, the Eastbourne Triathlon aims to be ‘an unmissable event whether you are a first timer or seasoned professional.’
