New venue, returning sponsor: Herbalife back as title sponsor of Bali International Triathlon 2016

Herbalife Bali International Triathlon

Global nutrition company, Herbalife, has officially become the title sponsor for the Bali International Triathlon 2016. The Herbalife Bali International Triathlon (HBIT) 2016 will be held at Mertasari Beach, Sanur, Badung, Bali, on 14 August 2016.

Andam Dewi, Country General Manager of Herbalife Indonesia, said, “Bali International Triathlon has been held from 2007, and this is the eighth year that Herbalife Indonesia has supported the event. Seeing the enthusiasm of both domestic and overseas participants in the triathlon, Herbalife Indonesia is continuing to support the event, which is also an opportunity to promote a region in Indonesia that has great potential for sports tourism.”

“We are very proud to again support the Bali International Triathlon,” added Dewi. “This is amongst our commitments to promote a healthy, active lifestyle through a balanced nutritional intake combined with exercise. In addition, this event promotes sport, and is set to foster excellence amongst Indonesian triathletes, with the hope of boosting Indonesia’s sporting image in regional and international arenas.”

HBIT 2016 will feature three competitions of varying difficulty: Olympic (1.5km swim, 40km cycling, 10km run), Sprint (500m swim, 20km cycling, 5km run) and a 5km Fun Run. Registration will be at balitriathlon.com and open to participants from Indonesia and abroad.

Change of venue
Sanur, a seaside town in the southeast of Bali, was chosen as the location for HBIT 2016 as it has ‘strong potential for sports tourism, with good infrastructure support so it can accommodate more participants whilst providing them with better comfort and safety.’

Formerly held in Jimbaran, moving to Sanur in 2016, the Herbalife Bali International Triathlon will t take a leap into becoming one of the largest regional triathlons, with a new route and a tie up with an annual community event, Sanur Village Festival, which runs from 24-28 August.

This will build on the success of the event, which is already amongst Indonesia’s most loved triathlons, famed for its iconic venue and race experience. The event has won various honours, including ‘Best Destination Triathlon’, and can draw more than 1,000 competitors from 30 countries, including more than 500 Indonesian runners.

Highlights of this year’s event will include stunning views of Bali’s beachfront, a new village and a closed road cycle route along the picturesque roads surrounding Sanur.

“We have very much enjoyed working with the team at Jimbaran Bali and would like to thank them for their support over the past few years,” said Arie S Sukirno, Bali International Triathlon’s Race Director.

“More than a thousand athletes have enjoyed racing on Jimbaran’s beautiful beach front and now we’re excited to introduce athletes to a new triathlon destination in Sanur. We very much look forward to revealing more details in the next few weeks. We are also pleased to be part of the biggest community event in Bali, the 11th Sanur Village Festival, as our contribution to promoting Sanur and Bali as world tourism and sports destinations.”
