OMATA debuts world’s first analog GPS speedometer

OMATA One analog GPS speedometer

Combining the latest technology and classic design, OMATA is introducing ‘an entirely new category of GPS speedometers’. The company has debuted the world’s first analog cycling GPS speedometer that ‘displays the information most essential to the activity in a premium, classic form’.

The OMATA One speedometer is designed to ‘complement and maintain the purity of the ride as well as look beautiful on the bike.’

The OMATA One speedometer launched on crowd-funding site Kickstarter on 5 April 2016, with estimated delivery of the first product in February 2017. OMATA One will subsequently be available through omata.com. The Kickstarter price is US$499 and the MSRP is US$599. (At the time of writing, one day after the Kickstarter launch, OMATA One had already hit a funding pledge of US$131,843 towards a goal of US$150,000.)

On the inside of the speedometer is a GPS computer that records and ensures that cyclists can download their activity data to their preferred training applications or sites.

On the outside, OMATA One has a legible and mechanical analog movement that shows speed, distance, ascent and time. The company’s adds that is first product displays only these four, core pieces of information, so the cyclist can focus on what really matters when on the ride: the ride.

OMATA’s founders Julian Bleecker and Rhys Newman believe, “Everything about your bike should be as pure, inspiring and beautiful as the ride itself.
