Pacific Sports opens up 2017 event calendar

Pacific Sports has announced the opening of registration for its 2017 event calendar. The company notes that next year’s ‘line-up includes some of the most iconic events and venues in the lifestyle sports industry… There is literally something for everyone, from the seasoned veteran to first-time triathletes to enjoy from Pacific Sports’ events in the coming year.’

The events will include national US sponsors Herbalife, ROKA, Clif Bar, Nestlé Waters, ACTIVE Network and regional partners University Hospitals, Triathlon LAB, Lifetime Fitness, R&A Cycles, Fleet Feet, Bike Authority, and a host of exposition sponsors.

Pacific Sports adds that it is proud of its charity partners including United Cerebral Palsy, Foundation For Letters, UC Irving Rowing, Heath Highsteppers, and Kids in the Game.

The 2017 Pacific Sports event calendar is highlighted with ‘some of the most beautiful, fun and challenging event courses you’ll find’, beginning with the Brooklyn 15K in Prospect Park, continuing on to The Cleveland Triathlon in Cleveland’s vibrant Downtown harbour area; followed by races across some of Southern California’s most beautiful beach cities for both the Long Beach and Newport Beach Triathlons, and culminating with the popular US Open Triathlon in Texas.

The 2017 Pacific Sports Events Calendar

Brooklyn 15K – 16 April 2017
The Brooklyn 15K takes in the spring at beautiful Prospect Park. The heart of Brooklyn is positioned as the perfect event for the destination runner. The 15K has sold out four years in a row, and is expected to again in 2017. Foundation For Letters is the new Official Charity.

31st Cleveland Triathlon – 23 July 2017
The celebrated course starts at Cleveland’s new downtown marina. The bike course is on, entirely closed, Memorial Shoreway; and the run course includes a run past the architecture of City Hall, First Energy Stadium (home of the Cleveland Browns) and finishes in front of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. This is positioned as the premier Midwest triathlon of the summer in the heart of downtown Cleveland. The event’s Official Charity, United Cerebral Palsy will be celebrating its 10th anniversary with the triathlon with s’ome great plans for a big year in 2017’.Registration opens on Monday 14 November 2016.

16th Long Beach Triathlon – 17 September 2017
‘Always a great event for both seasoned triathletes and beginners to the sport.’ New for this year is the MegaSprint distance added to the popular Sprint, SuperSprint, and Youth Triathlons. Pacific Sports adds that ‘a very safe swim inside the breakwall, bike on Shoreline Drive (home of the LB Grand Prix) past the iconic Queen Mary. The run is flat, fast, and finishes right on the sand.’

39th Newport Beach Triathlon – 1 October 2017
‘The longest running triathlon in the world’ comes back for its 39th edition on 1 October. Athletes swim in the Newport Dunes, bike in the ‘beautiful and bucolic Upper Back Bay’ and finish with a run across the bay adjacent to the Hyatt Newport Beach. Pacific Sports adds that ‘You can literally roll out of bed to the starting line for this popular season ending event that raises funds for UC Irvine Rowing.’

US Open Triathlon – TBD October 2017
This late season event in Texas is billed as ‘always a wonderful way to end the triathlon season’. Athletes swim through the calm waters of Lake Ray Hubbard and race through the Texas countryside on this f’un and challenging triathlon course on the east side of Dallas’. The race finishes at the Rockwall Harbor and raises funds for the Heath Highsteppers.
