American Bicycle Group (ABG), manufacturer of Quintana Roo triathlon bikes, is celebrating that its 2016 addition to the PR series – the PRfive – was last week named Triathlon Innovation of the Year by Triathlon Business International (TBI) at the Interbike Awards dinner in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Nominees for the award were required to have been in production and available at retail between 1 July 2015 and 15 June 2016. The award considered all categories of triathlon, including bikes, wheels, components, accessories and clothing; and nominees were considered based on overall design, performance, spec, price and styling.
Earlier this year, the PRfive was also named LAVA magazine’s 2016 Editor’s Pick for Gear-of-the-Year, Bike Technology.
The PRfive is positioned as having ‘superbike performance, without the superbike price’. It shares a frame and aerodynamics with the QR PRsix. The bike is light, up to 400g lighter than some competitors’ frames. Its standard front end design also makes it easier for the average triathlete to mechanically work on and travel with the bike. The Quintana Roo PRfive starts at US$3,700 with Ultegra components and is offered in four colour schemes.
