Quintana Roo’s Rent QR program continues to roll

Quintana Roo PRfive

American Bicycle Group (ABG), manufacturer of Quintana Roo, is continuing its ‘Rent QR’ program for the third consecutive year at select IRONMAN, USA Triathlon and Challenge Family events. The rental program includes the award-winning PRfive (LAVA magazine’s 2016 Editor’s Pick for Gear-of-the-Year, Bike Technology) and the PRsix (LAVA’s 2015 Gear-of-the-Year).

Bicycle models available for rental include:

  • PRfive Ultegra (rental at US$399);
  • PRfive Ultegra Race (US$419);
  • PRfive Ultegra Di2 Race (US$469);
  • PRsix Ultegra Race (US$449); and
  • PRsix Ultegra Di2 Race (US$499).

Orders can be placed through rentqr.com. The rental fee includes all transport charges, set-up at event and pre-event bike-fit consultation. Bike insurance, which covers any damage to the bike or its parts, can be purchased for US$39.95 on-site.

“Many of us at QR are avid cycling or triathlon competitors, and are faced with the same challenge as our customers: the hassle of transporting our bike to away events,” said ABG CEO Peter Hurley. “Three years ago we decided to test a solution to this problem with a rental program, and the rest is history. This year we will have five models available at 20 events, and are looking at other events where rentals make sense.”

RentQR will have bikes available at the following 2016 events:
• USAT Age Group Nationals (Sprint and Olympic)
• 70.3 Oceanside
• 70.3 Texas
• 70.3 Chattanooga
• Challenge Denmark
• Challenge Heilbronn
• Challenge Roth
• Challenge Regensburg
• Challenge Almere
• IRONMAN Lake Placid
• IRONMAN Boulder
• IRONMAN Texas
• IRONMAN Coeur d’Alene
• IRONMAN Wisconsin
• IRONMAN Chattanooga
• IRONMAN World Championships – KONA
• IRONMAN Louisville
• IRONMAN North Carolina Beach 2 Battleship (full and 70.3)
• IRONMAN Florida
• IRONMAN Arizona

Currently, additional events in Asia are being explored.

Based in Chattanooga, Tennessee, American Bicycle Group manufactures high performance bikes under two brands: Litespeed (road, mountain and adventure bikes) and Quintana Roo (triathlon-specific bikes).

Litespeed’s titanium technology makes it a leading manufacturer of cold-worked, cycling-specific tubesets, which led to a partnership with the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) to fabricate the wheels’ framework of the Mars Land Rover. Quintana Roo is billed as the only company in the world entirely devoted to triathlon bikes and its PRfive model was recently designated as LAVA magazine’s Editor’s Pick Gear-of-the-Year for Bike Technology, an award Quintana Roo also won in 2015 with the PRsix.
