Alistair and Jonathan Brownlee are amongst medallists confirmed to attend the annual British Triathlon Awards ceremony, to be held at Royal Armouries International, Leeds, on Saturday 12 November.
British Triathlon is inviting the city of Leeds to join the celebrations, to ‘together reflect on a show-stopping 2016 and look ahead at what the next 12 months have in store’. Along with elite athlete achievements, the ceremony recognises the work of triathlon volunteers, officials and coaches, who work tirelessly to ensure the sport continues to grow and flourish.
Alistair Brownlee said “It’s been a fantastic year for the sport and I’m looking forward to celebrating the team’s achievements in Rio. The British Triathlon Awards Dinner is always a fantastic evening and it’ll be great to catch up with my teammates in my home town next month.”
The Men’s Olympic Triathlon Gold and Silver medallists will be joined by the likes of Vicky Holland, Andy Lewis and Alison Patrick, all of whom also experienced podium success in Brazil this summer.
The Olympic and Paralympic stars will take part in a question and answer session during the evening, led by BBC Breakfast presenter and amateur triathlete, Louise Minchin, whilst BBC sports reporter Vassos Alexander will host the night, showcasing the stand-out moments in triathlon over the last 12 months.
Vassos said “It’s an honour to be part of the British Triathlon Awards Dinner following a hugely successful year for the sport.
“There have been some fantastic achievements across all levels of triathlon throughout 2016, reaching a crescendo in Rio at the Olympic and Paralympic Games, and I’m greatly looking forward to re-living them next month in Leeds.”
Tickets, priced at £55, are now available for the British Triathlon Awards Dinner. Triathlon industry representatives and fans are encouraged to book soon to ensure a place.
The day also features a number of expert-led triathlon workshops, covering everything from the journey from novice to the international stage, to bone-stress prevention and treatment. These sessions, priced at £15, have limited capacity and can also be booked online.
